Welcome to The Story Solver!
I’ve put together this collection of short articles about different aspects of storytelling for anyone who finds that they need, or want, to tell stories. Many of these are my friends among Toastmasters. The manuals they are using contain lots of valuable information about including stories within speeches, and telling stories. The information you’ll find in Story Solver adds to that. I’ve taken most of it from my background and career as a writer.
Often the articles are inspired by something I’ve seen done well (or not so well), or advice I’ve received from a Toastmaster. I get advice from other writers too, and I read anything that might help my own storytelling.
Narrative, and the ability to utilize it effectively are key tools for both leaders and speakers. Story telling is no longer exclusively for children and about fairy tales and country lore. It has been accepted as ‘the fast lane to the brain’. it captures the emotions and helps us absorb information.
Story is the essence of branding, of sales and of persuasion. Whether you use stories as you are speaking or as you are writing articles, whether you use them in business or for fund raising, be aware that the stories you tell are an expression of yourself.
